This book, written and illustrated for children aged 7 years and older, tells the true story of two aeroplanes.  The first, called Waterbird, was the first floatplane to fly successfully from Windermere in the Lake District in 1911.  The second Waterbird (the replica) . In 2022 made an public flight from the lake.  In our story, Mergie, a Merganser duck, is an observer of all those years and likes to think he is the star!
